Imagine a terrifying dystopian world where the international, robotic, brewing conglomerates successfully automated flavor and humans out of brewing process and reduced beer to a generic commodity.wait you dont have to imagine that. We totally filmed it! This super cool short film pokes fun at the big business breweries and their quest to automate the personality of beer and reduce it to a generic commodity. Sam Calagione (of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery www.dogfish.com plays a robot who explains the process of personality automation to a reporter, played by the amazingly talented indie actor/musician Will Oldham (heres a cool story on him: www.newyorker.com ). A must see for craft beer fans, Dogfish Head fans, or lovers of Will Oldham.

Brown’s Brewing, in Troy NY, brews a Porter that they age in bourbon whiskey barrels for two months. Jay www.youtube.com sent me this beer to try:

Or fans of all three!
BLAHHAHAHHAHAHHA!
Enjoyed this!
Will Oldham owns so much.
that’s pretty complex.
…sigh. I am a robot.
Great stuff!
@HerDarkestHour It is a very good beer. Finding a Stout that doesn’t have a burned taste might be hard but I’d say to try a chocolate stout like Rogue Chocolate Stout.
@Chad9976 I think it might do OK, at least for a year or two. I had a 2004 D. Carnegie Stark Porter that was almost 6 years old and it was very good and only 5.5% ABV.
It would be an interesting test at any rate.
@VideoBeerReviews considering the low ABV and the fact it’s not bottle-conditioned, would it age well?
Sounds like a complex beer. Any recommendations for a easily obtainable stout to try that isn’t burnt tasting?
@jjrudy41 Ya that is what I’m guessing. Usually tangy notes aren’t the best characteristics to have in beer, or whiskey. That’s why I’d like to try it again.
@VideoBeerReviews That is what I’m guessing. Usually tangy notes aren’t the best characteristics to have in beer, or whiskey. That’s why I’m willing to try it again.
@jjrudy41 I can see why it won an award, it’s very good! Thanks for sending it!
@jjrudy41 It is a very tasty beer and definitely sessionable. I would think that on cask it would be really good!
@yuichituba I’m wondering if your bottle was somehow bad. There’s just too much difference.
@jjrudy41 That’s what I was thinking. I bet Yuichituba got a bad one.
@Chad9976 I really enjoyed the beer. I too would love to see an imperial version, I think it would be fantastic.
You or Jay need to put a bottle of this in a dark place for a year to see how it ages!
p.s this beer just won an award at tap N.Y beer festival. i believe it took second.
i never say this. but i wonder if you had a bad bottle. cause your description is so different from anyone i know thats ever had this.
i would not say browns is a favorite brewery of mine, but they got a few that are simply great beers. and its the best i can get around here. i best describe this as sweet vanilla, mixed with a whisky woody taste. i’m glad you liked it…good review….
they had this on cask once and it was even better, but appertaintly thier cask broke, and they have yet to replace it. i was worried that when they started bottling this it was gonna lose something, but i got to say. i have been happy with the bottles i have had. i love that it is a barrel aged ber and still so sessionable. a great beer IMO.
@Chad9976 Probably not this year. I travel and spend money too much. I’m trying to just stay here the rest of the year, but I’m really tempted to go to Japan. It’s been over 3 years since I’ve been back home.
@yuichituba when’s the next time you’re stopping in our neck of the woods?
@yuichituba

That beer sounds so different from the one I had. It’s always difficult with craft beer if it’ll be hit or miss. Next time I get myself to upstate NY, I’m going straight to Brown’s and get a fresh one there.
I had Avery’s Maharaja (batch 11) this past Sunday, and it wasn’t that good. When I had it on tap at a Manhattan bar it was amazing. You never know.
@Chad9976
Nice head on that pour!
Jay likes this a little more than I do but I think it’s a solid performer – I could drink it everyday.
I wish they would come out with an imperial version of this – I think it would be amazing!
Glad to see you liked this as much as you did. I Wish Yuichituba had liked it as much
